01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled along the bustling Tanjong Tokong Road in the vibrant Seri Tanjung Pinang neighborhood of Penang, Warung Kita offers an authentic taste of Malaysian cuisine that truly resonates with locals and food enthusiasts alike. This charming Malay restaurant captures the essence of traditional flavors, serving up dishes that are as comforting as they are flavorful.

Warung Kita’s menu is a delightful journey through beloved Malaysian classics. The Nasi Lemak here stands out with its fragrant coconut-infused rice, perfectly complemented by crispy anchovies and roasted peanuts, all elevated by a fiery, aromatic sambal that awakens the palate. The Sambal Udang features plump, succulent shrimp cloaked in a mild yet sweet and spicy sauce, presenting a harmonious balance of heat and subtle sweetness. For those craving heartier fare, the Ayam Merah and Ayam Rendang dishes showcase tender chicken chunks bathed in rich, complex sauces—the former with a tangy, savory blend and the latter revealing the depth of slowly simmered rendang spices with a mild heat that lingers invitingly.

The atmosphere at Warung Kita reflects its unpretentious charm: a roadside Malay eatery with an inviting, homely vibe that encourages diners to relax and savor each bite. Some guests have noted that while the location could benefit from improved cleanliness and hygiene, the quality and taste of the food consistently draw them back. This genuine love for the culinary craft is evident the moment a dish arrives at the table, enticing the senses with vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and richly layered flavors.

Whether you are looking for a satisfying breakfast spread at the nearby Tanjung Tokong new market or a hearty meal to fuel your day exploring Penang, Warung Kita promises an authentic culinary experience steeped in the heart of Malaysian tradition. With attentive service and a menu that celebrates local favorites, it stands as a heartfelt invitation to taste Penang’s rich heritage plate by plate.

Located in Tanjung Tokong, Penang. Food on delivery . Nasi Lemak is quite good, comes with crispy anchovies & fried peanuts also spicy Sambal. We tried: - Sambal Udang: 4 pcs shrimp in mild hot and a bit sweet sambal - Ayam Merah: comes in small chunk, good sauce - Ayam Rendang : spicy tasty chicken, black sauce, mild Rendang flavour. Good to be served in small chunky meat. Recommended.
